I recently purchased my 21" rolling carry on luggage in the US and saved a bundle. As I am a photographer, I needed a 21" case to accomodate my tripod. First of all, here in Vancouver, very few luggage retailers stock 21" rolling cases. The few that have this sive only have it in the very high expensive brands costing over $200. I check the luggage at both the Bay and Sears, as well as numerous luggage sellers on Robson Street, and was not pleased with either the selection or the prices. The better brands of 20 or 22" carry ons were priced in the $150+ range, which is more than I wanted to pay. So when we went to Seattle last month, I was pleasantly surprised to find that 1) many if not most of the major chains in the US stock 21" rolling cases and 2) the prices were pretty much half the cost of purchasing here in Canada... across the board for luggage. In the end, I pruchased a 21" case from Sears at their Everett, WA location for $39.95 USD. At the time, the CAD dollar was close to $1.10 US so my cost was actually around $35 CAD, which was a whopping $115 cheaper than buying a similar product here in Canada. If there is that much profit built into the Canadian prices it is time to tell our Canadian retailers that this price gouging will not be tolerated!
