Maxtor 160GB One Touch portable hard drive Canadian rip off prices

I recently required a Maxtor 160GB external portable hard drive for my PC. Here in Vancouver, I priced it out at both FutureShop and London Drugs for about $170 + PST + GST = $200 total damage. Only a ponce would pay that price without shopping around. As I was not in a rush for the product, and not content to pony up that kind of cash, I decided to check the price for this item on ebay. Much to my surprise, I found a brand new and sealed unit for sale in a seller's fixed price store, for a price of, hang on... this is no joke... a terrific bargain of $69.95! I paid an extra $8 for postage and had the item shipped to me at Hagen's of Blaine, where I picked it up a week later. My direct cash savings on this purchase was about $110 CAD by the time I paid the PST and GST when I brought the item across the border. Even the Canada Customs Officer was amazed at the price! I was extremely pleased that I was able to save this kind of money by shopping online across the border. For me, $110 is by no means chump change. For the life of me, I cannot understand how come Canadian retailers need to whack Canadain buyers an additional $100 on this item, over what the best ebay retailer can sell it for. Suffice it to say there must be too many middlemen or too much profit being pocketed by the Canadian retailers for this item.
