I own a home based business and I require lots of padded envelopes for shipping out aviation books and DVDs that I produce.

For years I have been purchasing my 8.5X11 padded shipping envelopes from Office Depot and Staples here in Vancouver. Neither store always have these in stock so I am always going between the two when I require inventory and here are the costs in Vancouver:

Staples 8.5X11 padded shipping envelopes 48 pack Item Number 753520  $24.99
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=3%2C4028,17&webid=753520&affixedcode=WW
UNIT COST = 52 cents CAD

Office Depot Brand Self-Sealing Recycled Bubble Mailers, Size 2, 8 1/2" x 11 3/8", Pack Of 12 $11.99
http://www.officedepot.ca/a/products/444407/Office-Depot-Brand-Self-Sealing-Recycled/
UNIT COST = $1.00 CAD

On ebay... I purchase from seller justpoundsandounces
#2 Kraft Bubble Padded Envelopes Mailers x 8.5 x 12 100 qty
Price: $25.99 with free postage X 1.20 CAD exchange rate = $31.19
UNIT COST = 31 cent CAD

I have the shipments sent to me at Hagen's in Blaine and I drive down and pick them... and fill my tank with gas at the same time.

Needless to say I am saving a bundle by purchasing these items across the line.
